WPI Economics is committed to diversity. Diversity in our team adds to our company’s creativity and productivity and to facilitate this we actively encourage flexible working arrangements. We therefore encourage applicants who would like to work part-time and would welcome discussing anything that would make WPI Economics work for you.

If you require any reasonable adjustments to be made at any stage of the application process, please let us know.

How to apply

We take diversity seriously, so we have developed a name and university-blind approach to the first sift of applications. To enable this all applications should be submitted using this link . Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.

You will be required to submit:

  • A covering letter
  • Your CV
  • An answer to the following exercise in a separate document; please do not include your name or any other identifying information on this document.

In two sides of A4 or less, please answer the following question:

  • “What is the greatest single benefit to decarbonising the UK? How much might this be worth?

You can approach this question however you think best, but you might like to consider including the following:

  • Setting out which benefit of decarbonisation you are considering
  • Establishing how and why it is beneficial
  • Quantifying the scale of the benefit, perhaps in terms of monetary value

How you present this is up to you – we are happy to see largely written submissions, or submissions that are focused on graphics, charts and figures (or a combination of the two!).

You will be required to upload these documents as pdf, .doc, .docx, .odt or .rtf files. We highly recommend you have these files ready before starting the application form.

The initial sift of applications for interview will be carried out entirely on the basis of your answer to the exercise to maximise the range of candidates that we bring forward. We will then review CVs and covering letters as a secondary sift for applications that are borderline on the basis of the exercise alone.

The deadline for applications is 12 noon on Wednesday 13th April. We aim to contact all applicants by Wednesday 20th April to confirm whether you have been selected for interview and expect interviews to be held over video conference from Monday 25th April.

If you have any questions about this opportunity, please email [email protected].
