This free in person event at The King’s Fund will discuss what political action is needed to bolster primary and community care and make a reality of the long-held ambition of ‘care closer to home’.
The event will follow on from the publication next week of a major new report from The King’s Fund on this topic, ‘Making care closer to home a reality’.
It will discuss:
- The underlying factors that have prevented successive governments from achieving the vision of shifting focus from hospital care towards primary and community services.
- Findings from our upcoming new report ‘Making care closer to home a reality’.
- What actions politicians and other national leaders should and should not undertake to achieve a wholesale shift in focus to primary and community care.
Sarah Woolnough, Chief Executive, The King’s Fund, will chair the event and following a presentation from the report authors. Sarah will be joined for a panel discussion by Beccy Baird, Senior Fellow, The King’s Fund and lead author of the report and representatives from three main English political parties (further details to be confirmed shortly).
This event is the latest in a series of events The King’s Fund has hosted over the last six months discuss the priority health and care policy areas ahead of the next general election.

We are pleased to be running this event in-person at our central London offices and hope you will be able to join us there for the discussion. There will be breakfast and networking from 8:00 am ahead of a prompt start at 8:30am.
