Urban futures: Priorities for the new Government – the future of devolution
10 October 2024, 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
Location: Online
Think tank: Centre for Cities
This event hosted by UK think tank Centre for Cities will discuss balancing both widening and deepening devolution and what’s next for English devolution.
Metro mayors now cover 50 per cent of the UK’s population and lead on policy areas such as transport and housing. Much progress has been made but there is considerable demand from the existing mayors for more powers and flexibility. The new government is committed to filling in the missing half of the country. This event will examine the merits of the government’s commitment to devolution, and the extent to which both widening and deepening devolution is deliverable.
