The future of UK-China relations post Covid-19

This event, hosted by UK think tank the IEA will discuss the future of UK-China relations post Covid-19.

The United Kingdoms’ future relations with China are at a crossroads, with many senior figures now calling for a reset in our foreign policy towards the largest emerging economy in the world. What strategy should the government adopt in light of China’s increasingly authoritarian and egregious behavior? Have we been too short-sighted in our response to the rise of China and, is a more muscular strategy now required? Or are the political and economic consequences of such a conflict too costly, and should we instead strive for greater cooperation and civic engagement?

Panellists:

David Davis MP (Former Brexit Secretary)

Sir Iain Duncan Smith MP (Former Leader of the Conservative Party)

Damián Green MP ( Former First Secretary of State)

Mark Littlewood  (IEA Director General) and Dr Steve Davies (IEA Head of Education).

Professor Syed Kamall (IEA Academic and Research Director) (chair)
