The Centre for Policy Studies, the leading centre-right think tank, is looking for an enthusiastic individual to oversee our world-class programme of public events, in Westminster and beyond, as well as manage the associated commercial partnerships. We are looking for an experienced, highly organised and highly motivated individual who is unflappable under pressure and who excels when working in a small team.

We will consider applications both for the role of Head of Events and from exceptionally promising Events Managers with the potential to grow into a more senior role.

Responsibilities will include:

  1. Plan and organise a programme of public events that compliments the work of the CPS and boosts the profile of the think tank and its media arm CapX:
    • Create a pipeline of public events generating new ideas for event themes and formats to drive impactful engagement: in-person event and conference, receptions and webinars
    • Manage all aspects of each public event in the CPS/CapX calendar from conception to delivery including: contracts with venues and events suppliers, speaker liaison, attendee outreach and guest list management
    • Write event blurbs and invitations as well as briefings and event/sponsorship proposals
    • Manage the organisation’s YouTube channel to deliver live-streaming during the events, or liaise with the relevant AV teams in place
    • Plan and oversee the delivery of flagship events and sponsored activities such as the CPS’s major annual Margaret Thatcher Conference and Conservative Party Conference programme
  1. Work with the Digital and Communications team on event specific digital marketing and social media strategy:
    • Schedule posts and event promotion on social media channels
    • Manage and update mailing lists for both CPS and CapX
    • Manage outreach for events via the website, direct mails and social media in order to grow the CPS’s visibility and followers
  1. Manage event sponsorships:
    • Be the main point of contact for event sponsorship
    • Create and manage a database of relevant stakeholders from events and networking opportunities
      Identify, create and drive the sponsorship plan for public events with the wider team to include research projects and corporate membership opportunities
    • Carry out other duties as and when required in order to contribute to the efficient running of the CPS

Required experience and skills:

  • Highly organised
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong relationship management and experience in dealing with key stakeholders
  • Ability to prioritise own workload and work to deadlines
  • Team player with the ability to confidently lead the team when managing events
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • An interest in and knowledge of UK politics and current affairs
  • Sympathetic to the values of the Centre for Policy Studies

Desirable experience and skills:

  • Previous experience in events management, including Party Conference
  • Experience using Mailchimp/Moosend and social media channels
  • Experience in hosting virtual events and live-streaming
