Are you ready to manage research projects and find solutions to transport problems that will help shape national and regional transport policy?

The country’s leading transport charity, Campaign for Better Transport has worked for almost 50 years to improve transport, tackle climate change and create a more inclusive society. We are looking for a Policy Research Manager to manage research projects, build the evidence base for our work, and communicate our position to politicians, industry and the public.

With at least three years’ experience in a similar role, you will have an excellent understanding of quantitative and qualitative research. You will have a good knowledge of the UK’s policy-making process, and of the major issues in sustainable transport. Whether speaking or writing, you will communicate complex information in a clear and engaging way.

Key responsibilities include:

Developing and disseminating the charity’s policy position
Managing the development and delivery of research projects
Managing the delivery of – and in some cases writing – reports and other materials
Maintaining good relationships with government departments, industry representatives and other stakeholders
Line managing the Policy Researcher

What you will need to bring to the role:

A relevant undergraduate qualification and minimum three years’ experience of working in a similar role
Understanding of quantitative and qualitative research
Understanding of Westminster, regional and national policy development processes
Understanding of the major issues in sustainable transport
Experience of working effectively with stakeholders from different sectors
Excellent public policy and data analysis skills
Ability to develop and utilise appropriate research methods
Ability to communicate complex information clearly
Engaging verbal and written communication style tailored for different audiences
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet often competing deadlines
Strong work planning and prioritisation skills
Proven ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy of communications

Location: London Bridge and flexible home working
