Regulation and complexity harm EU labour mobility

With over 6,300 professions requiring a practical license in the European Union, jobs outside of these professions tend to attract migrants because of the exhaustingly complex and time-consuming occupational regulations. As such, these regulations add to the cost of labour mobility and do not appropriately recognize the loss of skilled workers repelled by these costs.

This briefing calls for better transparency regarding occupational regulations and the elimination of restrictions within the EU in order to decrease discrimination toward migrants and increase labour mobility.
