The Living Hours Index provides a unique perspective on the UK labour market by examining shift notice periods and shift cancellations. While not captured by the UK’s major labour market surveys like the Labour Force Survey, these working patterns can have a huge impact on workers and their families. As outlined in this report, a huge proportion of the UK workforce get called into work on short notice and/or have shifts cancelled without payment, and this has a major impact on their daily lives.
