4 June 2026, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Location: Belgrave Neighbourhood Centre, Rothley Street, Leicester, LE4 6LF
Think tank: British Future
This event hosted by UK think tank British Future explores and shares stories of South Asian service and sacrifice during the World Wars.
Hosted by British Future in partnership with the UK South Asian Digital Archive, with support from the Royal British Legion, this event is part of the My Family Legacy project, which explores and shares stories of South Asian service and sacrifice during the World Wars.
Join us for an evening of discussion, reflection and conversation on British Asian heritage, South Asian service in the World Wars, and how shared histories can shape identity and belonging for British Asians today. We particularly welcome attendees who may have family stories, memories or connections to this history, and encourage them to share their reflections as part of the evening.
Speakers will include Nisha Popat, Co-Founder of the UK South Asian Digital Archive and cultural sector leader; Gurinder Singh Mann from the Sikh Museum Initiative; and Dr Avaes Mohammad, Programme Manager for the South Asian Bridgers Project at British Future.
Light refreshments and chai will be served from 6pm, with the panel discussion beginning shortly afterwards.
