What should government prioritise in the 10 Year Workforce Plan?
3 December 2025, 8:30 am – 9:45 am
Location: The King's Fund, 11-13 Cavendish Square, London W1G 0AN
Think tank: The King's Fund
This event hosted by UK think tank the King’s Fund discusses NHS workforce challenges and the policy solutions required to address them.
This is a critical moment for the NHS workforce. Join us at an event where we will debate the priorities that must shape the forthcoming 10 Year Workforce Plan expected next Spring.
The situation is stark. Over 41% of staff report feeling unwell due to work-related stress, burnout is endemic. Persistent cases of bullying, racism and discrimination remain unresolved. Numerous reviews have exposed a toxic culture of fear and blame, while public satisfaction with the health service is at an all-time low.
This conversation comes at a moment of profound change: industrial action, NHS England reorganisation, the abolition of Healthwatch England, and the challenge of delivering the 10 Year Health Plan. Decisions taken now will define the future of health and care. At this event, we will confront the most pressing workforce challenges and explore the policy solutions needed to turn the tide. Topics include:
- Moving from ‘burnout to belief’ to create a culture that values people over performance metrics.
- Equipping NHS managers to deliver the ambitions of the 10 Year Health Plan.
- Embedding compassionate leadership across the system.
- Tackling bullying, racism and discrimination in the NHS workforce.
- Clarifying government’s role in supporting system leaders.
