This report from UK think tank the Social Market Foundation examines the state of young people’s mental health in England.
This briefing looks at case studies from the young people’s charity #BeeWell in schools in Greater Manchester and Hampshire, showing further the importance of prioritising the wellbeing of students in our education system. Adolescent wellbeing is a predictor of school attainment, adult mental health, relationships, and socioeconomic outcomes.
However, the OECD PISA study has ranked the UK’s young people fourth from bottom across nearly 74 countries in terms of life satisfaction.
As part of the #BeeWell programme, researchers from The University of Manchester are working with Anna Freud and local governments to survey secondary school children about their wellbeing.
