This report from UK think tank Future Governance Forum calls on the Chancellor in the Budget to give mayors powers to deliver infrastructure in their areas.

John Healey’s Autumn Budget should give mayors new powers and funding to deliver housing, health and school infrastructure projects according to a new report by The Future Governance Forum (FGF), in partnership with Trowers and Hamlins.

Good growth, regeneration and getting more investment out of London and the South East and into the regions are urgent priorities for the government. Yet time is short before the next election for the government to deliver new infrastructure, especially while fiscal constraints remain imposing.

That’s why we’re recommending ‘Mayoral Infrastructure Investment Partnerships’ which are a new model of progressive PPP that mayors can use in their region to build the infrastructure they need.
