This report from UK think tank City-REDI evaluates career coaching for young people at risk of being NEET.
PfPP2 provided career coaching and mentoring, group career readiness sessions and employer engagement for 102 young people identified at risk of becoming NEET(not in education, employment or training) in Year 10 in five East Birmingham secondary schools.
The report describes improvements in young people’s sense of career direction, confidence in the future and wellbeing, understanding of alternative career pathways and potential economic savings from avoidance of young people becoming NEET.
The findings of the evaluation were presented at a roundtable on 25 June 2026 as part of Birmingham City Council’s efforts to promote learning from PfPP2; for continuous improvement and in the light of the challenge laid down in the Milburn Report on Young People and Work.
