This report from UK think tank the Centre for Policy Studies highlights the pressures placed on the housing market by unsustainable levels of migration.
Revised net migration figures released by the Office for National Statistics show that the UK had a record level of net migration in 2022, equivalent to 1.1% of the total UK population.
In this briefing note, Karl Williams highlights the pressures placed on the housing market by unsustainable levels of migration, and shows that just to keep pace with levels of net migration seen in 2022, we would have to be building 515,000 homes a year in England – 73% higher than the official target.
