This report from UK think tank the Centre for Policy Studies examines the UK’s international tax competitiveness.
Down three places from 2022, the UK now ranks 30th out of 38 OECD countries in the 2023 edition of the Tax Foundation’s International Tax Competitiveness Index.
In this briefing note, which accompanies the publication of the Index, Tom Clougherty examines the reasons behind the UK’s poor performance, namely the rise in headline corporation tax from 19% to 25%, and provides a package of potential reforms that should, if implemented, catapult the UK to 3rd place on the Index.
